Calvin L. Hill, 59, of Nokomis, formerly of Fillmore, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, in Nokomis.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at Grace Fellowship Church in Fillmore with Pastor Myron Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hill was born on May 11, 1957, in Hillsboro, the son of Sollie Lee and Opal May Jones-Hill Lawrence. He married Debra Smith in 1975 and later married Terrisa G. Kirchner on June 28, 2003, in Fillmore. She survives in Nokomis.
He was a heavy equipment operator throughout the area, including E&G Construction in Coffeen. He loved farming, was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Fillmore and a 1975 graduate of Nokomis High School.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Hill is survived by his sons, Jason Hill (Tyra) of Jefferson, IN, Cody Hill (Stephanie) of Ramsey, Kaden Kirchner of Nokomis, Kenneth Law (Julie) of Warren, OR, and Johnathan Kirchner (Heather) of Missouri; daughters, Jovana Jacobson (David) of London, England, Mariah Kirchner of Nokomis and Malaina McNeill (Ryan) of Nokomis; mother, Opal Lawrence (John) of Fillmore; brother, Bill Hill of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, M.J., Braden, Hoyt, Cali, Kassie, Kymber, Kylee, Jasper and Liam; and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorials may be made to the Montgomery County Cancer Association.
