Cheryl Diane Altman Mau, 60, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at her residence surrounded by family and friends.

Born on April 24, 1956 in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Flint Altman and the late Lucille Bertha Taylor Altman.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 6pm in Graham Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Mau’s family was her world and she spent every moment she could with them. She began her career as a dispatcher for Georgetown County EMS and later transferred to law enforcement as a corrections officer. She loved helping others and serving her community, which ultimately lead her onto the path of being a victim’s advocate with the Andrew’s Police Department. Mrs. Mau was also an avid reader and animal-lover. She rescued many of her beloved pets from St. Frances Animal Center.

Surviving are her husband of 43 years, James L. “Jay” Mau, Sr.; three daughters, April Mau Maglich (Shane) of Andrews, Candace “Candi” Mau Holland (Jerimey) of Georgetown, Brandi Mau Bouchard (Thaddeus “Teddy”) of Williamsburg, Virginia; one son, James L. “Jamie” Mau (Jennifer “Jen”) of Conway; thirteen grandchildren, Dustin Maglich, Damien Maglich, Dalton Maglich, Dayton Maglich, Dane Maglich, all of Andrews, Elizabeth Mau, Sadie Mau, Everett Mau, all of Conway, Jerimey Holland Jr., Lorelai Holland, both of Georgetown, Thaddeus “Thad”, Bouchard, Saylor Bouchard, Brycen Bouchard all of Williamsburg, Virginia; one sister, Betty Lou Yance (Kenny) of Georgetown; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Mozley.
