John Antrim Crossley, of Williamsport died Thursday September 29, 2016 at the Williamsport Home, surrounded by his family.

John was a son of the late Ellery and Lois (Antrim) Crossley. September 1, 1951, he married Joyce Beverly Lusk, who is also a resident of the Williamsport Home.

John was a member of Newberry Church of Christ. He graduated from Williamsport Area High School and was an Army veteran. His military service included time spent in post-war Japan as a guard at Sugamo Prison (Tokyo).

He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union, a thirty plus year machinist at the Bethlehem Steel Wire Rope Plant in Williamsport.

He was a member of the American Legion (Royal P. Steinbacher) Post 617, the VFW (Leroy O. Buck) Post 7863 and a past member of the Moose Lodge.

When he was healthy he enjoyed his twice daily walks through Newberry with his pet dog, Jake, summer baseball games and Penn State football.

John served as a volunteer at both the Newberry Little League and West End Babe Ruth League where for many years he was the umpire-in-chief, and where his sons and grandsons played. He enjoyed vacations in Texas, sailing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife of 65 years, John is survived by his twin brother, Ellery, South Williamsport; two daughters, Lois (Bradley) Hicks, Williamsport and Lu (Dick) Fair, Milton, DE, three sons, John (Anita), Houston, TX, Ellery, Lewisville, TX and Benjamin (Lydia), Mesquite, TX; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Ben, a sister, Virginia Black and a great-grandson, Isaac Henry Singer.

A funeral to honor the life of John will be held in the Newberry Church of Christ, 822 Diamond St., Williamsport by Pastor Ron Savits. A private burial will be held at the Trout Run Cemetery.
