Born on Jan. 16, 1930, in Lancaster, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Annie (Beiler) Stoltzfus. On Nov. 29, 1949, she married her late husband, Jacob Kauffman, with whom she was blessed to share nearly 33 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1982.
Surviving are her children, Liz Glick and her husband, Jim, of Mifflintown, Linda Mast and her husband, Glenn, of Sarasota, Fla., Barbara Carper and her husband, Glenn, of Mifflintown, Ann Ingle, of Lewistown, Mervin Kauffman and his wife, Pat, of Greencastle, and Daniel Kauffman and his wife, Tammy, of McAlisterville; brothers, Menno Stoltzfus, of Lancaster, Amos Stoltzfus, of Gap, Daniel Stoltzfus, of Sarasota, Fla., Benjamin Stoltzfus, of Akron; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Four sisters, Fannie Stoltzfus, Mary Lapp, Naomi Beiler and Rebecca Stoltzfus, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Kauffman was a member of the Living Water Christian Fellowship, Mifflin, and owned and operated her own residential cleaning service until her retirement in 2003.
Sarah was an avid reader and enjoyed word search puzzles. She also loved to entertain guests and family in her home, as well as babysit her grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at the Delaware Mennonite Church, Thompsontown, with the Rev. Gary Krabill and Pastor Keith Graybill officiating. Interment will follow in the Delaware Mennonite Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at the church.
