Lorenzo W. Scales, aged 73, died Thursday at his home, 31 National street, after a long period of failing health. Funeral services were from the home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. E. L. Harvey officiating. During the service the duets, "We'll Never Say Good-Bye in Heaven" and "I Gave My Life for Thee", were sung by Mrs. Glee Bradley and Mrs. William Clark. Bearers were Fred Scales, Jesse and Earle Dow and Ralph Johnson. Interment was in Ascutney cemetery.

Mr. Scales was a native of Lyman, N. H., born August 29, 1861, the son of Hiram and Hypsia (Hepsy) D. (Higgins) Scales. With the exception of over a year spent in Claremont, he has made his home in Windsor for the past 13 years, coming here from Barre and vicinity where he spent most of his life. By trade he was a brick mason but was employed as a machinist in Windsor. He was long devoted to the ideals and teachings of the Salvation Army.

Besides his wife, who was formerly Esther MacDonald, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Della Chamberlain, eight grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Higgins of Framingham, Mass., and a brother, Irving Scales.
