Wallace Leon Wright, age 85, of Ghent, WV, passed away at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley on Thursday, September 29, 2016.

Born on July 15, 1931 at Chester, WV, he was the son of the late Floyd Wright and Nettie Carpenter Wright.

Mr. Wright was a retired steel mill employee where he worked in the office. He was a US Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict and also served as an electrician on the USS Yorktown. Mr. Wright was a graduate of Chester High School in Chester, WV, and was a graduate of Marshall University with a degree in Communications and Marketing.

He enjoyed watching all sports and was a huge fan of Marshall University sports and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Wright.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his children; Sharon Helton and her husband, Randall, of Ghent, Paul Wright and his wife, Rochelle of Fayetteville, Georgia, and Joyce Farley and her husband, Randy, of Cool Ridge. A sister, Sue Johnston of Empire, Ohio; five grandchildren, Zach, Luke, Eric, Wade and Miranda, and three great-grandchildren Bear, Aliha and Emily. Two nephews, Tom and Chuck Johnston, also survive.

Committal services will be conducted at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 2 PM with Rev. Orville Setliff officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1:30 PM until service time on Monday at the mausoleum. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #32 Honor Guard. Burial will follow in the Veterans Garden of Sunset Memorial Park.
