PHYLLIS JEAN STEVENS* age 65 of Sturgis, Michigan died early Thursday morning January 17, 2008 at the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
She was born November 3, 1942 in Dunbar, Virginia a daughter to Estes & Edna (Melton) Stidham.
Phyllis had resided in Sturgis since 1962 coming from Kentucky.
On July 1, 1988 she married Marvin Stevens in Sturgis.
Phyllis was a broker and owned and operated Sturgis On Line Realty in Sturgis. She attended the Christian Fellowship Center. She was a Life member of the American Legion Post # 215 American Legion Auxiliary in LaGrange, Ind., Eagles Lodge #1314 and Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW Auxiliary. Phyllis enjoyed playing golf and traveling especially going on cruises. Phyllis was always ready to volunteer her time to others and truly loved her involvement with Putting on the Hits at the Eagles Lodge.
She is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Marvin, 1 Daughter; Sandy (David) McFarland of Berea, Kentucky, 2 Sons; James (Lynette) Taulbee of Portland and Thomas (Robin) Taulbee of Grosse Ile, 2 Step-Sons; Marvin (Lorie) Stevens, Jr. of Sturgis and David Stevens, Sr. of Sturgis, 13 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, 1 Sister; Betty Mullins of Sturgis and several nieces and nephews.
Her father and step-father; Roan C. Dellinger preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday and 2:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday at the *HACKMAN-Foglesong Funeral Home* of Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Phyllis Stevens will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Glenn Middleton of the Christian Fellowship Center will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
