Raymond's life began on October 12, 1922 in El Dorado, the son of James Elmer and Anna Marler (Roberts) Ross. He attended El Dorado Schools and served his country as a medic in the United States Army during World War II.

Raymond was united in marriage to the former Bessie Lamb on June 2, 1944 in El Dorado. He was employed for over 25 years with White and Ellis at a driller and previously worked for Phillips Petroleum. Raymond was a faithful member of the First Church of the Nazarene in El Dorado and was an avid fisherman. He loved his pets and especially loved spending time with his family whether travelling to Texas on the holidays or playing the card game 31 with his children. His loving family includes his wife Bessie of El Dorado, children Vernon (Vena) Ross of Arkansas, Billie Ross of Rosalia, Sharon Jones of El Dorado, Coletta (Jr.) Willhite of Rosalia, Patricia (Larry) Hinkle of Whitewater, Jim ( Kay) Ross of El Dorado; 24 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren, and 33 great great grandchildren.

Raymond passed away at his home on September 27, 2016.

He is preceded in death by several grandchildren, and 8 brothers and sisters. His family will gather with friends on Friday from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, El Dorado where his funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. led by Pastor Tom Gaskill. Raymond will be laid to rest in Sunset Lawns Cemetery following the service. Carlson Funeral Home is serving the Ross family. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the First Church of the Nazarene.

"CORRECTIONS" There are a couple of errors in this Obituary. It should read, "Anna (Marler) Ross" then her 2nd husband was Mr. J. Frost. Not sure why the surname Roberts was added? Raymond & Bessie were married in 1941..not 1944. And my step-mother's name is "Vona", not Vena. Vernon (Dad) & Vona lived in Missouri, but moved to Arkansas.
