Mark Thomas Loyd

AGE: 36 • Newark

Mark Thomas Loyd, age 36, of Newark, Delaware, lost his long battle with drug addiction on Sunday, September 25, 2016. He was born on March 4, 1980 in Madison, WI, to Joseph E. and Margaret E. (Naquin) Loyd.

Mark loved music and playing his guitar with friends. For the past six months Mark enjoyed working at Deerfield Golf Club in Newark, where he found many new friends. New friends at the Men of New Garden and the Human Services Department of DelTech helped to make the last months of his life some of the happiest of his life. He was two terms short of completing an associate's degree in Human Services at DelTech and dreamed of helping others avoid the misery of drug addiction.

He is survived by his parents and brother, Jeffrey J. Loyd of Newark. Mark, we love you; you will always be in our hearts.

A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Saturday morning, October 1, 2016 at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mark Loyd Memorial Narcan Rescue Fund, c/o any PNC Bank. The Fund will provide free Narcan kits to persons unable to afford the cost to reduce overdose deaths.
