NORTH RICHLAND HILLS - Byron E. Gray, 77, a retired band director and educator for the Birdville school district, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at a North Richland Hills hospital.

Mr. Gray was born Jan. 12, 1921, in Stillwater, Okla.
Since retirement, he taught private euphonium lessons at Richland Hills High School, Haltom High School, and at some middle schools.

He was a member of Richland Hills United Methodist Church, where he served as the chairman of the Day Care Board, Irving Community Concert Band, BARSP, and BARSP Choir.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sylvia Marie Gray.

Survivors: Wife of 53 years, Myrtis Gray of North Richland Hills; sister, Donna Lane of Youngstown, Ohio; nephews, Carlton Hall of Broomfield, Colo., and David Hall of Mission Viejo, Calif.
