Brian Rex Hoskins

On the morning of July 10, 2016, Brian Rex Hoskins lost his valiant battle with esophageal cancer. Though given slim odds Brian fought desperately to win the war with this terrible disease for the love of his family also participating in a clinical trial that could possibly help those in the future.
On March 16, 1948, Brian was born to John Rex and Evelyn Labrum Hoskins, in Murray, Utah where he enjoyed a loving though sometimes mischievous childhood with his brother, Calvin Hoskins and younger sister, Rebecca Hoskins Pritchett, whom he adored. In 1967 Brian graduated from Granite High school, attending Weber State College and later enlisted in the Air National Guard. He retired from Kennecott Copper at the age of 48 after 30 years and was co-owner of Preferred Property Inspections with his brother-in-law Michael Maughan, retiring twelve years later to spend more time with his family.
Brian married Peggy Brunyer and though later divorcing, their union gave him three beautiful daughters, who he cherished with all the love a heart can hold.
In 1992, Brian married Jodi Branz Spencer giving her the amazing gift of not only his unwavering love, but the love and joy of his wonderful daughters and later six incredible grandchildren. Even though his time was cut short, Brian and Jodi were able to spend an enormous amount of wonderful time together which will last for eternity, until once again they will be as “one.”
When you met Brian, you were friends forever and his loving teasing laughter was truly infectious. This will be a hard and trying time, but we know he will forever be at our side helping us through each and every day.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Dr. Louis M. and Josephine Branz; three brothers-in-law, John and Steve Branz and Michael Maughan. His little dog JoJo and kitty Rocky will be waiting at Rainbow Bridge to take him to those loved ones.
He is survived by his wife Jodi, daughters, Wendi (Jim) Darr, Tiffany (Brian) O’Donnell and Brandee (Kris) Mellert, along with six amazing grandchildren, Jordan, Haley, Colbie, Jake, Kyle and Connor; brother, Cal (Sharon); sister, Becky (Dave); sister-in-law, Vickie Maughan and brother-in-law, Rod (Julie) Branz.
Brian had a great life, with great friends and great memories; his Z28 Camaro, numerous boating trips to Lake Powel and lots of golfing adventures with best buddies, Mark, Ray, Dick and Russ. He had many amazing gifts but his love to tease, continuous laughter and love of animals and children exceeded them all, which is felt by all his nieces, nephews and entire family. He was dearly loved and will be missed enormously by all who were so fortunate to have him in their lives.
The family wishes to thank all of his amazing nurses, doctors and staff of Huntsman Cancer Institute, Alexis Mollard, (his clinical trial coordinator) and Brighton Home Health, who showed so much love and compassion not only to Brian but his family as well. Dr. Grace O’Brien, our family doctor for her love and exceptional care, and to his niece Heather Pritchett Rose: Thank you, sweetheart for getting Brian the immediate medical attention he so desperately needed.
Brian’s wishes were a private family celebration, which will take place at Lake Powell, where so many unforgettable family memories will last forever and ever.
