Clarence served as a Staff Sergeant & Engineer / Gunner on B-25J #43-28127, 500th Bomber Squadron, 345th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in New Haven County, Connecticut prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on February 19, 1942 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the mechanical treatment of metals and also as Single, without dependents.

Clarence was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-25 was hit by enemy anti-aircraft flak and crashed at sea during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
