He was a native of Columbus, GA and had made Simpsonville, SC his home for over 30 years before returning to Aiken County living here for the past 14 years. He was the husband of 50 years to the late Mrs. Brenda S. Kirkland and a son of the late Mr. Furman Baggott and the late Mrs. Mary Lou Scott Baggott.
Mr. Kirkland had retired as a Tool and Dye Machinist with 48 years of service most recently at South Eastern Tool Company, Couchton, SC.
Survivors include one son, James (Angela) Kirkland, Jr., Simpsonville; one daughter, Mary (Tim) Sweat, Gainesville, GA;three brothers, Lamar Baggott, Aiken, Edward Baggott, Anderson, Brant Kirkland, Aiken; three sisters, Sybil Turner, Windsor, Eleanor Givens, Windsor, Joann Smith, Rome, GA; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mr. Kirkland was also predeceased by two brothers.
Interment will follow at Graceland East Memorial Park, Simpsonville, SC.
