Mrs. Maureen P. Fitzgerald Cooke, 60, of Hanover and Estero FL died Tuesday, September 30, 2003 in the Mass General Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. The daughter of Ruth McDavitt Fitzgerald of Braintree and the late Thomas Fitzgerald, she was born in Boston on September 24, 1943. She was raised and educated in Wollaston and was a 1961 Graduate of North Quincy High School. She was a 1964 Graduate of the Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Cooke was employed for 37 years as a Registered Nurse at Quincy Medical Center until her retirement on 2001. She was a Member and Past President of the Hanover Women's Club Juniors and a Charter Member of the South Shore Registered Nurses Association. She is survived by her Husband, Richard A. Cooke, 2 daughters, Denise Cooke of Hanover and Karen Fowler and her husband, John of Tewksbury, her mother, Ruth McDavitt Fitzgerald of Braintree, 1 brother, Thomas Fitzgerald of Norwell, 1 sister, Ruthann Dillon of Barnstable, 3 grandchildren, Jaime Fowler, Jonathan Fowler and Owen Fowler and 7 nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Friday, October 3, 2003 at 11 AM in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street, Rte 139 in Hanover. Interment will be in Hanover Center Cemetery. Visiting Hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Rte 53 in Hanover on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Maureen P. Cooke Scholarship Fund, c/o Notre Dame Academy, 1073 Main Street, Hingham, MA 02043.
