Harry Allison

Harry B. Allison, 77, of Lisbon St., Wellsville, longtime athletic official, died at 8:00 p.m. Sunday at East Liverpool City Hospital where he was admitted Friday after suffering a hear attack. He was born in Hookstown, Nov. 22, 1907, a son of the late George Allison and Alice Boyd Allison. Mr. Allison had worked at the former Taylor, Smith & Taylor China Co., and was employed at the Sterling China Co., from 1944 to 1962. He served 45 years in the pottery industry and was an honorary member of the Glass, Pottery, Plastics and Allied Workers International Union where he served in several capacities with Local Union 24. He was a member of the Emmanuel Ministries of Canfield, Ohio. Mr. Allison was official time keeper for Wellsville High School basketball for many years, and served many years as president of the Wellsville Boosters Club. He was a longtime Little League baseball coach in Wellsville, and was a member of the Charter class of the East Liverpool Area Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974. He is survived at home by his wife, Beulah M. Talbot Allison, whom he married in December 1929. Besides his wife, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Denver (Betty) Shelton of Glenmoor; a son, Charles N. Allison of Wellsville; a sister, Mrs. Mildred White of Newell; a brother, Hugh Allison of Chester; five grandsons and four great-grandchildren. Services are to be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Dawson Funeral Home with the Rev. David Verzilli officiating. Burial is to be in Columbiana County Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
