Emma Loretta Boschetti Parsons, who worked at the Oneonta Dress Factory for 20 years as she raised five children, passed away peacefully Sept. 25, 2016 at Bassett Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Emma was born in Woodlawn, Pa., on March 31, 1925, to parents Joseph and Esther (Lubatti) Boschetti.

After graduating from high school in 1943, Emma joined the World War II effort by working as a riveter on turbine engines at General Electric in Schenectady.

She married Ernest L. Parsons, Sr. on Sept. 27, 1947 and moved to Oneonta to raise a family. She worked for 20 years at the Oneonta Dress Factory and was a dedicated wife and mother to her five children at their home on Burnside Avenue.

Emma was also an avid volunteer in the community and contributed a great deal of time to the Women’s Auxiliary of the Oneonta Little League. In recent years she volunteered her time in the library at Oneonta Community Christian School and it brought her great joy.

Emma was the matriarch of her family. She always lived a life of abundance in its truest form: faith, love, family, friends, grace, gratitude, compassion and purpose. She was a wonderful Italian cook and always enjoyed making her friends and family happy with her incredible culinary skills.

Emma possessed a deep love for her church family, the Assembly of God and her many special friends, especially Pastor John Grenier and his wife Robin, Marylou Bevins, and Carol Heburn. She always enjoyed her Wednesday Bible study and playing Yahtzee. She was very proud of having the title “Yahtzee Queen”.

Emma is survived by her children, Ernest Parsons (Cheryl), Timothy Parsons (Elizabeth), Suellen Marmet (Jerry), Tina Crawford (Don) and her daughter-in-law, Linda Parsons. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason Parsons, Craig Parsons (Delilah), Kim Motts (Chris), Lori Bender (Dave), Sarah Yarbrough (Edwin), Jenna Kolesky (Dave), Julie Park (Martin), Jeremy Davies; her sister, Rose Millias; her brother, Leonard Boschetti, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Emma was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Esther Boschetti; husband, Ernest L. Parsons Sr.; son, Steven Parsons; grandson, Shane Marmet; sister, Jennie Heon; brothers, Armando, Edward, Joseph, Anthony, Quinto, and Alec Boschetti.

Emma’s family would like to acknowledge and thank the excellent, caring ICU nurses, Barbara and Charles and the surgical physicians at Bassett Hospital who cared for her.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at the Assembly of God Church, 1667 County Route 48, Oneonta, with the Pastor John Grenier, officiating.

The burial will follow at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
