Kimberly Ann Richmond age 35 of Portage, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at her home.

She was born April 10, 1977, in Hollywood, Calif. She is the daughter of Paul and Lori (Strang) Richmond.

Kimberly lived most of her life in the Kalamazoo area.

She had been employed as a nanny. Kimberly had a total love and appreciation for animals. One of her favorite things to do was taking treat baskets to animal shelters.

She is survived by her parents, Paul and Lori Richmond of Vicksburg; three brothers, Ryan Richmond of Raleigh, N.C., Elijah Richmond, a student at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio, and Ben Richmond of Vicksburg; grandparents Eleanor “Ellie” Richmond of Sturgis and John and Norma Bontrager of Howe, Ind.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends from noon-1:45 p.m. Thursday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, where funeral services celebrating the life of Kimberly Ann Richmond will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Fred Goebert of Factoryville Bible Church in Athens will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.

Because of Kimberly's love for animals, the family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in her name consider the Kalamazoo County Humane Society, 4239 S. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49008.
