Evelyn A. Ament, 90 years, of Dodge, NE formerly of Cedar Bluffs, NE died Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Parkview Home in Dodge, NE. Evelyn, the youngest of 5 children, was born November 30, 1926 in Sibley, Iowa to Jacob and Martina(Nemmers)Wagner. She grew up at Ashton, IA and Sibley and was a graduate of Sibley High School. Evelyn married Richard F. Ament on June 4, 1947 at Ashton, IA. They later divorced.
Evelyn moved to Fremont in 1955 and then to Oakland, NE in 1960, where she worked in the office of Dr. Gayle Peterson. She moved to Lyons, NE in 1981 and then lived in Cedar Bluffs from 1987 until moving to St. Joseph Retirement Community in West Point, NE in 2014. Evelyn kept house for Monsignor Ulrich at Marianna. She had a deep faith and strong independent spirit. She enjoyed gardening and canning. She was always ready for a good card game, especially Bridge(she seldom lost). She also loved garage sales and finding quarter treasures for her children and grandchildren.
She was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Cedar Bluffs, church secretary, P.C.C.W., and past president of the Altar Society. She was previously active in the Cedar Bluffs Senior Center.
Evelyn is survived by daughters, Pat(Dennis)Hutsell of Parker, CO, Pam(Joseph)Coughlin of St. Louis, MO, Polly(Walter)Bahns of Clarkson, NE and Dorothy(Rick)Schmidt of Blair, NE; son, Mike Ament(Denise Delfino)of Cedar Rapids, IA; 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Margaret Crannell; grandson, Jacob Bahns; brothers, Donald, Walter and John Wagner; and sister, Ethel Miller.
Funeral Mass 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 17, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cedar Bluffs, NE. Visitation will be Sunday 5 PM – 7 PM with a Rosary at 7 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in Cedar Bluffs. Father David Gayhart will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery in Sibley, IA.
