Frances Denise Montgomery, more affectionately known as “Lil Frances,” was born June 26, 1974 to Frances Montgomery and Bobby Lee Dawson.
She received her early education in Tattnall County and, after moving to Upson County, she attended Upson High School. She was a member of the first graduating class of Upson –Lee High School, the class of 1992.
She was the mother of two children. To support her children, she worked at Carter’s Mill and Standard Textiles. She made sure her children had what they needed and some of the things they wanted. She worked tirelessly to support her family.
At an early age, she joined the Bethel Baptist Church in Taylor County. After the passing of her grandparents, she moved her membership to Pine Chapel Baptist Church. She loved her pastor and she loved her church. She enjoyed the preaching of the Word and attended faithfully until her health began to fail. Frances had a strong faith. Through her sickness, she learned to trust God in every area of her life.
She was a member of the DA Fabulous Friends Social Club where she enjoyed working and serving in the community. She loved family gatherings, spending time with her nieces, nephews and friends.
On Saturday, August 27, 2016, her long warfare with sickness came to an end. The Lord called her name. She answered and went home to be with the Lord. Frances is now free of sickness, pain and suffering in this world. Her departure has saddened the hearts of her family but her memory will live on.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Mr. Gregory Gibson; her maternal grandparents, Mr. John and Florence Montgomery; paternal grandparents, Mr. Robert Lee and Bill Dawson and Mr. Barry Sr. and Sallie Mae Tigner.
