HEATHER NELSON Heather Nelson, also known as Heather Kneip, age 91, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2016 from complications of Alzheimer's disease in Alameda, CA. Heather was born on June 4, 1925 in Lithgow, New South Wales, Australia. Heather lived an adventurous life, moving from Australia to New York City with her first husband and later to California. She was a strong liberal and advocated tirelessly for justice and equal rights for all and was known for her advocacy and volunteer work. Heather worked at Columbia University in New York as well as at Legal Services of Northern California in Chico. Heather was an active member of the Unitarian Fellowship of Chico and served on their Board of Directors. She enjoyed a long retirement and spent time with her family as well as continuing to travel widely. She is survived by her daughters, Laurie Feldman and Carrie Blanche as well as their spouses and 5 grandchildren. A private memorial will be held at a later date by her family to honor her legacy.
