Nancy was born January 17, 1943 in Melcroft, Pennsylvania to the late James and Frances (Smith) Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters: Ruth who died shortly after birth, WildaChearney and Ruby Sebek.
She is survived by Thomas (Tom) Hawkins her husband of 52 years, daughter Pam and husband Ed Hamlin, son Greg and wife Tracey and son Steve and wife Brianna and a sister, Mary Hostetler (Anderson), and three brothers, Jim, Jack, and John Anderson and their spouses.
In addition she is survived by eight grandchildren. Pam's three children: Hannah and husband Matt West, Matthew and his wife Cari, Luke and his wife Jackie. Greg's three children: Aaron, Paige and Mark.Steve's two children: Sam and Delia Rose. And four great grandchildren, Isaiah West, Mason and Ryder Hamlin and Olivia Hamlin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
When Nancy was young she loved to roller skate, square dance and polka, help her Mom clean the house and cook. She also helped her older sisters clean their houses and care for their young children.
She loved Southern and Bluegrass Gospel music, and never lost her ability to polka. When she was in Somerford, a home for people with Alzheimer's, entertainers came and played music. When they played polkas Nancy got up and danced all over the place.
Nancy was a full time wife and mother. Tom was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1986 and as it progressed she became his full time caregiver. She never left his side until Alzheimer's disease made it impossible for her to care for him.
Nancy was an active member of Grace Independent Baptist Church, where Tom was the pastor, for 25 years. During that time she taught children in Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, helped in the nursery, sang in the choir, cleaned the church, and helped print and fold bulletins and church newsletters, and serve as hostess for many visiting pastors, evangelists.
The fruit of the Holy Spirit which is: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control was evident in Nancy's life. She had the spiritual gifts of giving, serving, encouraging, hospitality, showing kindness and helps.
