Graveside services for Bonnie Lee Frazier, 80, of Portales were held at 2:00 PM, Mon., Sept. 26, 2016 in the Portales Cemetery with Scott P Reeves officiating. Her beloved family members and close friends were honorary pallbearers.
Bonnie Lee Frazier was born Aug. 3, 1936 in Floyd, NM to the home of Vera (Cooksey) and Ira Brown and died at her home on Sept. 22, 2016. Bonnie grew up mostly in Floyd, however while she was still a girl they moved to Portales. It was after moving to town that she met Paul Blandford, and they married in 1952. They had a daughter together, but later divorced. On Sept. 3, 1962 in Fort Sumner, she was married to Erskin Frazier. Bonnie worked for a time as a cashier at Safeway, also worked at various times as a waitress at the Hiway 70 Truck Stop and the Sands restaurant. However, for a good many years she worked in local dry cleaners, first as a presser, but eventually as an alterations expert! Bonnie later established her alterations business at her home, where she did alterations for as long as her eyesight would permit.
She and Erskin enjoyed traveling and panning for gold. She was a great cook, and her green enchiladas and her mashed potatoes were family favorites. She enjoyed watching old westerns with John Wayne and Dennis Weaver. She was also a pretty good pool player. However, for the past many years her favorite passtime was playing with her grandchildren. She would sometimes ask them how many of their friends had grandmothers her age that were out shooting baskets with them on the driveway. Bonnie was a member of the University Baptist Church, but most of her spiritual life was at home with her Bible, and programs that she watched on television.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard or "Rick" and Jo Frazier of Turkey, TX; her daughter, Doris Blandford of Portales; her five grandchildren, Jeremy and Justin Massey, Brett and Brandon Bagwell and Dustin Frazier; her seven great-grandchildren, Madison and MacKenzie Bagwell, Justin, Jordan, James, Jayden and Blain Bagwell; and her three great-great-grandchildren, Aidan Espinosa and Alleah and Daniel Montenegro. She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, and by her husband, Erskin, who died Feb. 7, 2012.
