APPENZELLAR, Rev. Dr. Larry L.
Age 70 of Elmira Heights, NY. He was born April 10, 1942 in Chambersburg, PA, son of the late Merle Stanley and Sarah Gladys (Aller) Appenzellar and passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at home. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Georgia, beloved daughters and sons-in-law Anna Maria and David Viele, Laura Lee and Rev. David Sullivan, Penelope Suzette Appenzellar all of Elmira Heights; grandchildren Andrew and Andrea Sullivan, Daulton, Connor, Autumn and Hunter Viele; brothers Fred of Huntsville, AL, Robert (Gail) of Chambersburg, PA and Richard (Debbie) of Lorida, FL; sister Nancy (Danny) Farrow of Chambersburg, PA along with several nieces, nephews and cousins including special cousins Patricia and James Lowans. Pastor Appenzellar was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Army. He was Associate Pastor of the Haws Avenue Methodist Church in Norristown, PA from 1978 to 1981and then moved to Elmira Heights to become Pastor of Elmwood Avenue Baptist Church until his retirement in 2007. Furthering his commitment to the Lord, Rev. Dr. Appenzellar earned his PhD in Christian Counseling in 2001. He loved working with the youth in his church taking them on trips around the country to help others and to teach them the giving ways of the Lord. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Washington Redskins, Penn State and Philadelphia Phillies fan. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Monday, September 10th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 11th at 10 am in Elmwood Avenue Baptist Church, 230 Elmwood Avenue, Elmira Heights. Rev. David Sullivan, his son-in-law, will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Larry through donations to Elmwood Avenue Baptist Church, 230 Elmwood Ave., Elmira Heights, NY 14903
