Born in New York in 1803, came to this state in 1809, son of John and Mary (Chamberlain) Barker, grandson of Samuel and Mary (Fithen) Barker, grandson of John and Sophiah (Mulford) Chamberlain, married in 1829 to Miss Barbara Strate, daughter of William and Sophiah(Imel) Strate. They are the parents of seven children, viz: John H. Sophia(deceased),Samuel (deceased; Mary;Elizabeth and two not named (deceased).
