Ola B. Weaver

Chester -- Mrs. Ola B. Weaver, 82, of 902 Phoenix Ave., died at 6:15 a.m. Friday at East Liverpool at East Liverpool City Hospital after an illness of several months. She was born Oct. 9, 1899, in Chester, to George A. and Alice M. Boyd Allison and was the first child born in Chester after its incorporation. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Chester. She was co- owner and operator of the former Weaver Restaurant at 424 Carolina Ave., retiring from the restaurant business in 1962. She also worked for the former Superior Cord Tire Co. of Chester, the Taylor Smith and Taylor Co. and the former Edwin M. Knowles China Co. During World War II she was a grinder operator at Crucible Steel. In the summer months she was a staff cook at the YMCA Youth Camp in Columbiana County. She was a member of the Tri-State Sisterhood No. 199 and the Daisey Protection Club of the Dames of Malta, the Pride of the Valley Council No. 4 of the Daughters of America, Crescent Chapter No. 49 of the Order of the Eastern Star, the White Shrine of Jerusalem of Wellsville and the Golden Agen Club of Chester. She is survived by her husband, Franklin R. Weaver, whom she married April 30, 1919 in Chester; a daughter, Mrs. Burton (Stella) Ward of Chester; three brothers, Frank M. Allison and Hugh L. Allison, both of Chester and Harry B. Allison of Wellsville; two sisters, Mrs. Beulah Barmer and Mrs. Mildred White, both of Canton; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services were held Monday at the Arner Funeral Chapel with her pastor, the Rev. Bill Gilliland, officiating. Entombment was at the Beaver Mausoleum at Beaver, Pa.

Mrs. Weaver was a member of the First Christian Church of Chester, and was co-owner and operator of the former Weaver Restaurant at 424 Carolina Ave. She retired from the restaurant business in 1962. She previously worked at the Superior Cord Tire Co. in Chester, Taylor, Smith and Taylor Pottery, the Edwin M. Knowles China Co., and during World War II worked at Crucible Steel in Midland as a grinder. She was a staff cook at YMCA youth camps during summers. Mrs. Weaver was a member of the Tri-State Sisterhood 199 Dames of Malta, Daisy Protectors Club of the Dames of Malta, Pride of the Valley Council No. 4 of the Daughters of America. Protectors Assembly No. 1 of Pittsburgh, Crescent Chapter 19 of the Order of the Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem of Wellsville, and the Golden Age Club of Chester. She married Franklin R. Weaver April 30, 1919, in Chester. In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Burton (Stella) Ward of Chester, three brothers, Frank M. Allison and Hugh L. Allison, both of Chester, and Harry B. Allison of Wellsville; two sisters, Mrs. Beulah Barmer and Mrs. Mildred White, both of Canton; three grandchildren and 10 great - grandchildren. Services are to be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the Arner Funeral Chapels in Chester with the Rev. Bill Gilliland of the First Christian Church of Chester officiating. Entombment will be at Beaver Mausoleum in Beaver, Pa. Friends will be received at the funeral chapel Saturday and Sunday afternoon and evenings. The family will be present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
