She was born in Delta County, CO on May 19, 1927 and went to college in Albuquerque, NM, becoming an elementary school teacher. While teaching in Portland, OR she met her future husband, Lathan H. Collins Jr. They were married on June 18, 1955 and where happily married until his death in 2001.
Audrey and Lathan lived in Portland OR, Seattle WA, Huntsville AL, and Tallahassee FL as Lathan's career took them across the country. In Tallahassee she was president of the local Welcome Wagon and involved in Tally Ho. She was known and loved for her generosity, encouraging sick children as a clown, and the many crafts she made for herself and her friends and family.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruby Rundle; husband Lathan H. Collins II; and sisters, Wilma Haskins and Dorothy Burmeister. She is survived by her children Johanna (Joi) Smith and husband, Scott of Oviedo, FL and Lathan H. Collins III and wife, Erin of Lancaster, CA; five grandchildren, Erik Sterchele, Alayna Sterchele, Lathan H. Collins IV, Forrest Collins, and Garrett Collins; two step-grandchildren, Carlyn Peterson, and Austin Hastings; three great-grandchildren, Eli, Sawyer and Vivian; sisters, Myrtle Burge, and Georgiana Carrick.
