Roy Ray Franklin, 83, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Matt James officiating. Interment will be at Hawley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016 at McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. Franklin was born on July 16, 1933 in Windham, Texas. In 2009, he married Bobbie L. Rice in Hawley, Texas. Ray was an avid bluegrass lover and had attended many bluegrass festivals. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Ray had worked for many years at Miles Auto Sales in Sweetwater and was retired from the railroad and truck driving.
Survivors include: Wife-Bobbie Franklin of Sweetwater, TX; Sons-Ken Franklin and wife, Debbie, of Florida, Terry Franklin of Navasota, TX; Daughter-Donna Gilbert and husband, Terrell, of Plano, Texas; Sister-Maybell Messer and husband, John, of Lubbock, TX; Stepdaughters-Kathy Ross of Big Spring, TX, Kim Pruitt and husband, Mark, of Searcy, AR; Stepsons-Larry Ross of Hawley, TX, Eddie Ross and wife, Jenny, of Hawley, Chuck Ross of Hawley, TX, DeWayne Ross and wife, Kathryn, of Anna, TX; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Pallbearers are Randy Franklin, Tyler Ross, Jimmy Toney, Tony Messer, Kris Sutton and Beau Hart.
