Bill D. Blake, 80, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010 in Lubbock, TX. He was born in Paducah, Texas on August 27, 1929 to Edna and Nelson Blake. Bill was raised in Vernon, Texas where he was an active Boy Scout and was involved in many school activities. Bill was voted most handsome his senior year. He attended Texas Tech, where he graduated in 1950 with a degree in Business Administration. In 1956, he started Plains Electro-Plating, where he owned and operated the business until his retirement in 2006. He was a member of Lakeridge United Methodist Church.

Bill was an avid walker, reader and gardener. He loved wildlife and entertained his children and grandchildren with wonderful animal stories. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Joann C. Blake, and his daughter, Mollie Blake. He married Ann Stone Voelker on April 23, 1994.

His joy was his family: his wife, Ann; son, Brad and daughter-in-law, Suzanne; daughter, Leesa Condry and son-in-law, Jim; and step-children, Mitch and Carla Voelker, Charlie and Debra Voelker and Reeve and John Pearce. He adored his grandchildren, Aimee and Nelson Blake, Bill, Jeff and Tyler Condry, Lacey and Patrick Dodd, Sally and Georgia Pearce, Elizabeth, Robert, James and Sarah Voelker, Ruth and Brent Cashell, and Derek and Katie Voelker.

There will be a private memorial service for the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill's memory may be made to Vista Care/Carillon Hospice in Lubbock. The family will receive friends at the Lubbock Country Club at noon on Saturday, June 5, 2010.
