MARY E DELONG—Mrs Mary Ellen “Nellie” DeLong, 79, of 401 W Allen St died at noon Saturday at Dirksen House. Born in Moberly, Mo, Mrs DeLong was the daughter of John and Mary Ellen Cook Kleiber. Her husband, Carlos R Delong, died in 1967. A resident of Springfield since 1905, Mrs DeLong was a former partner of The Shack at Second and Jefferson Streets, retiring in 1967. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Betty) Scott of Creston, Iowa, Mrs Joseph E (Mary Ellen) Gianessi of Lakewood, Calif; one son, Charles E Delong of Springfield; 10grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs Irma Rubley of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 9 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the Rev Eugene Costa officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Stab Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
