Maude Mae Smith was born Dec 1,
1894 in Dover township, Pocahontas
county, the daughter of Jacob W. and
Frances Matilda Zeigler. She died
March 29, 1978 at the Good Samaritan
rest home in Laurens.

Mrs. Smith lived her girlhood and
early married life in the near vicinity
of Laurens and Albert City. She
married James P. Smith of rural
Albert City in 1912. Together they
continued a rural life. They were the
parents of a daughter, Shalo and a
son, George J. Mrs Smith reared a
grandson, Wayne Warren Smith to
manhood Mr. Smith preceded her In
death.

In the following years, she spent
time with her brothers in Arizona,
after which she retired to Albert City.
She was a faithful member of Our
Savior's Lutheran church.

Surviving her are her daughter,
Mrs Shalo Sherman of Albert City;
son, George of Michigan, grandson,
Wayne of St Peter, Minn.; three
grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren;
five brothers, Louis,
Lee, Jake, Wayne and Wilford; and
two sisters, Emma Nentwig and Nova
Nilsen.
