Walter C. Dodson, Jr. “Wally” of Port St. Joe, FL and 40 year resident of Wakulla County, FL passed away Friday, September 23, 2016. Wally was born July 7, 1945 in Cario, GA and later moved to the Florida Panhandle. A member of the Florida National Guard, Wally was a graduate of the University of West Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and a graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Banking. Wally was the President and CEO of Wakulla Bank for 36 years earning the 2001 Florida Bankers Association Banker of the year.

Wally was the Past President of the Florida Bankers Association. In addition, he was past president of the Wakulla County Chamber of Commerce, Wakulla Academic Boosters, Wakulla County Men’s Club and Wakulla Coastal Optimist Club. He served as a member of several other organizations to include: United Way of the Big Bend, Board member of the Executive Council of the Boy Scouts, National Alumni for the University of West Florida, Board Member of the Stavros Center of Economic Education at FSU and was a contributor to several youth athletic clubs and organizations of Wakulla County.

Wally was a proud father, friend and grandpa. He loved playing golf, spending time with his family at the beach and cheering on the Florida Gators.

Wally is preceded by his wife of 43 years, Susan Cooksey Dodson; his father, Walter C. Dodson, Sr. and his mother, Doris Mixon Dodson.

Wally is survived by his three children and one grandchild. Son, Walt Dodson, III (wife Kristen) and grandson, Jacob; daughter, Ashley Savary (husband Chris) and daughter, Alison Dodson.

Wally is also survived by his two brothers, Jim Dodson (wife Barbara), Bill Dodson (wife Carmel) and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Christ Anglican Church. Burial will immediately follow the service at Arran Annex Cemetery.
