Charles Lincoln Hover was called by several names: Chas, his dad (Abner) referred to him as Lincoln, and in the censuses in Nebraska he called himself Charlie.

Charles was the son of Abner Hover and Sylvia McCleery. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1866, the sixth of nine children. He studied law, and by the turn of the twentieth century, he was resettled in Nebraska where he was an attorney.

Charles married Bertha Ayers in January 1895, and had two children: a daughter Sylvia and a son Vivian. By the time of the 1910 census, it is clear that they were divorced, that Charlie was on his own, that Bertha had remarried 5 years earlier, and the kids were with her.

Charles Lincoln died in Omaha in 1917. It is still unknown where he was buried.
