Bradford, NH - John A. Fortune, 87, of Fortune Road, died Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Pleasant View Center in Concord. He was born in Concord, NH on December 5, 1928. John was a lifelong resident of Bradford.
He was a third generation dairy farmer in Bradford and also logged with his uncle. Later John was employed by the State of NH on the road crew. He also worked in that capacity for the Towns of Bradford and Newbury and had been Road Agent in both towns. John retired about 20 years ago. He was a hard worker and farming was his life. When he had a chance he enjoyed square dancing. He was predeceased by a son, Albert. Members of his family surviving include seven children, Christine Bowie of Bradford, NH, Sally Bagley of Texas, Harlan Fortune of Quincy, MA, Cheryl McDonald and Jean Saxby both of Bradford, NH, Jamie Fortune of Webster, NH and Samuel Fortune of Sutton, NH; 23 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in Sunny Plain Cemetery, Bradford, NH.
