Written by her son:
I have heard her talk of the early days in the prairies, where she and her sisters and three brothers lived in a sod house and burned braided grass and buffalo chips for heat. I also remember tales of her and my dad coming east on bicycles shortly after they were married. She was an extrovert, very outgoing and leader in everything she belonged to. She was pedigree Irish. Baudette, the big town, was seven miles from Pitt. There were no roads and the train went thru Pitt to Baudette, but didn’t stop. So my mother, Mayme, petitioned and got the right for a government Post Office in Pitt so the train had to stop for mail and pickup passing us.
