Rosie Bud Thomas Washington was born July 1, 1921 in Mansfield, Desoto Parish Louisiana. Her Christian race began at Mount Olive Baptist Church (Pastor J.H. Forbes) in Mansfield. She was the first of her siblings to move to Dallas, Texas. There she united with the Good Street Baptist Church after moving to Oak Cliff, she joined Greater Emanuel Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Burley Hudson. Knowing that this was where God wanted her to be, she immediately followed her former practices and became active in the Church ministries. She served as Church Clerk, Sunday School teacher (Pastor Anderson was one of her students), and a part of the Mission Ministry while at Greater Emanuel. Her name is even on the cornerstone. Later, she followed Pastor Anderson to the church he organized, The "Exciting" Singing Hills Baptist Church. She continued to work in the ministry serving as President of the Senior Adult Ministry and she started the Senior Adult Annual "Fall Festival" Program. She was an active member for 31 years.
