Michael (Mike) Clark Mullenix, 50 of Saline Michigan died unexpectedly on September 20, 2016 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Mike was born in Ashland, Ohio on September 15, 1966. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1984. He became a Bobcat and graduated from Ohio University in 1988. He continued his education at The Ohio State University, graduating in 1993 with a Ph.D. in Immunology. He was devoted to his career and worked for Enzo Life Sciences since 2007.
Mike was known as MacGyver and was able to hold his earlier cars together with dental floss, chewing gum, and duct tape. He also was a great brewmaster and known for his creative labels, such as Murphy’s Law (named for his beloved dog) and Abby Normal (named after another beloved dog). He made an annual pilgrimage to the Cleveland Browns stadium with his high school buddies and continued to be a loyal Browns fan. You could always find him cheering on his daughters during their softball game or attending a music concert.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Carolyn (Landry) Mullenix and his two daughters, Cassandra (20) and Claire (18); his parents, Betty and Doug Mullenix of Ashland, Ohio; sister Misty (Rob) Collins of Scottsdale, Arizona; Mark (Candace) Mullenix and nephews Ryan and Kyle of Strongsville, Ohio; parents-in-law, Jerry and Kathy Landry of Delaware, Ohio; sister-in-law Laura Landry Meyer (Tom Oberhouse) and nieces Eleanora and Aubrey and nephews Nathan and Nick of Pemberville, Ohio; brother-in-law Rick (Sonya) Landry of Powell, Ohio; sister-in-law Marni (Jim) Molina and nephews Jacob and Joe and niece Jessica of Delaware, Ohio.
The family will be receiving visitors on Saturday, September 24 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Nie Family Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 734-302-1000, and a celebration of life service on Sunday, September 25, 10:00 am at the same location.
To honor Mike and his life and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mullenix Family Fund via PNC Bank and/or Nie Family Funeral Home during visitation.
