ALLEN-Services for Phillip Bruce Roark, 74, Allen, are 2 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Bruce passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at Ada. He was born Dec. 29, 1941, to James and Gladys Triplett Roark, one of five children which included his twin sister Ruth. He joined the Army National Guard at the age of 14 and served his country for nine years. He graduated from Allen High School in 1959. During that time he also went to Nebraska and trained bird dogs. After high school, Bruce went to Hennessy Oklahoma and worked in an oil field supply store. Bruce attended East Central University for two years and studied accounting. Shortly after that he became a self-employed carpenter and contractor for many years before he began working with his brother-in-law Harvey Huckeby building gaming centers and head start centers for the Chickasaw Nation.
On Feb. 18, 1966, Bruce married Annette Cartwright and they had a daughter, Lee Ann. Then on Sept. 12, 1992, he married Linda Logan and became a father to daughter, Kelly, and son Corey Logan.
Bruce enjoyed spending time with family and friends, he loved flying , fishing, traveling and raising his chickens. He was a true country boy at heart and loved working on the farm. He was a loving and loyal husband as well as a proud father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife Linda, of the home; his daughter, Lee Ann Starr and husband David, of Aubrey, Texas, daughter, Kelly Logan, of Allen, and son Corey Logan and wife Sarah of Stonewall; his twin sister, Ruth Huckeby of Ada; granddaughters McKenzie Starr, Chelsea Starr, Charlea Leonard and Katie Logan; grandsons Chad Starr, Chase and Courtney Rupe, C.J. Logan, Patrick Leonard, Trep Leonard and Cole Logan; five great-grandsons, Cooper Rupe, Cyle Rupe, Ryland Logan, Cayden Logan and Karson Logan; and one great-granddaughter, Hensley Mackedanz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Herman Roark and Gale Roark; his sister, Jimmie Chiles; his granddaughter, Shyla Rupe; and his father-in-law, Charles Baugus.
Bearers are Corey Logan, Kregg Leonard, David Starr, Tony Huckeby, Harry Crenshaw and Patrick Leonard. Honorary bearers are Trep Leonard, Rod Bailey, Ernie Sheppard, Hondo Huckeby, Danny McDougal, Purvey Knighten and Russell Gjovig.
