Bessie Barco was born on October 10, 1933 in South Mills (Camden County), North Carolina to John Barco and Emma Jane Roach. She was the youngest of six children.

Bessie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was an active member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of South Mills.

Bessie attended Saint Augustine College in Raleigh, North Carolina where she received her degree in education. She also attended Nursing School in Suffolk, Virginia an then moved to Newark, New Jersey where she was employed as a second grade school teacher. She taught second grade there for six years, after working in the nursing field for a while.

In 1969, Bessie moved to Seaside (Monterey County), California, and within one month of being there, she was offered, and accepted a teaching position at La Mesa Elementary School in Monterey (Monterey County), California. After 28 years of teaching, Bessie retired from the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District on June 5, 1995.

Bessie met C'Lester Webb in 1975, and two years later they were married in 1977. They were both members of Friendship Baptist Church In Seaside, California under Pastor C. Lewis McFadden, Rev. Shelby Richards and Rev. Dr. Anthony D. Dunham. Bessie was an active member in church, serving on the Usher Board, the Missionary and Sanctuary Choirs, the Ruth Circle and Sunday school teacher.

Bessie was also a member of the Eastern Star, Carmalita Chapter Number 38 of Seaside, California where she was an active Worthy Matron.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, and five siblings. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, C'Lester Webb; her daughter Angela Foxworth of Chula Vista, CA; her sister Fannie Moore; 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a host of other family an friends.

Bessie Barco Webb passed away on July 23, 2015. Her funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Anthony D. Dunham officiating. Interment will follow at Mission Memorial Park, 1915 Ord Grove Avenue in Seaside, California.
