Johanna was born in Sor-Trondelag, Norway to Hendrik Hendriksen Odegaard and Karen Estensdatter Stovne. Her birth is recorded in the Roros Parish in Sor-Trondelag. Her parents married on July 19, 1863. They had 5 other children after Johanna. Johanna came to America in April of 1882.
Ole and Johanna married Nov.7, 1883 in Dell/Faribault County/Minnesota.
The 1885 Evansville, MN census shows Johanna , Ole & infant daughter Clara along with Johanna's younger brother and sister, Henrick(14)and Petra(10). The Evansville Historical Society found records in the Our Savior's Lutheran Church of two children born to the couple. Clara was born June 18, 1884 and Hilma Ausine was born June 9, 1886. Johanna died Oct.31, 1886, when Hilma was just 4 months old. Her death record states Typhoid Fever as her cause of death. Working with the Historical Society, it is assumed that Johanna is buried in Mound Grove Cemetery in Evansville, as Ole bought a plot there. But, there are no cemetery records for 1886.
* My connection: Ole was the brother of my great grandfather, Gunder Berg.
