Leo Ivan Dudley, age 91, died in Kempner, Texas on September 19, 2016 He was surrounded by family and loved ones. Leo was born December 30, 1924 in Unionville, Iowa to Hazel Marie Dudley. Leo joined the service and served his country admirably. He received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He fought in the Vietnam War and patrolled the DMZ in Korea. He served twenty seven years in the Army, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was stationed in Germany, where he met the love his life, Johanna. They spent fifty seven joyous years together until her death in January 2014. He was also stationed at Ft. Hood, Hawaii and Ft. Knox. After retiring from the Army, he worked thirteen years for Civil Service. He left as a Supervisor in the Lock Shop at Fort Hood. His hobbies were hunting and fishing. He was very close to his family and trusted companion, Pete. He is preceded in death by his wife, Johanna Marie and son, Gordon Dudley. Survivors include his daughter, Claudia Fielding of Anchorage, Alaska; Shirley Strychalski and her husband Jim of Temple; Sons Greg Dudley and wife Tammy of Abilene; and Leo Dudley, Jr. of Afghanistan; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation is from 5pm to 7pm, Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove, Texas. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, September 26, 2016 at Smith Cemetery in Kempner, Texas. Arrangements under the direction of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Copperas Cove, Texas.
