There are many people that, if you were to ask them to name their best friend, they would answer "Ryan Mills." They were right to feel that way. Ryan Mills was truly one of the kindest, most loving and supportive people in the world and a friend to everyone. Ryan Leonard Mills was born March 22, 1978, to Julie and Leonard Mills in Galveston, TX, where he became part of the sixth generation of Mills born on the island. He attended Heritage Hall, Westminster Middle School and graduated from Bishop McGuinness in 1996. He passed away peacefully and unexpectedly Sept. 22, 2016, from organ failure. He was surrounded by those he loved the most. Ryan loved Sooners football, Thunder basketball and golf, but what he loved most was spending time with his friends, family and his loyal canine, Brody. It was in the company of loved ones that Ryan truly shined. Whether it was helping others, getting together for a Sunday brunch or just listening to a friend in need, Ryan devoted himself entirely to those he loved. He had a big smile, an even bigger laugh, but biggest of all was Ryan's heart. Ryan was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Mills; and his grandparents, Gladys & Nick Basanda and Cissy & Ballinger Mills Jr. He is survived by his mother, Julie Mills; sister, Ashley Mills; aunt and uncle, Lynn and John Robberson; and his cousins, Lauren and Chase Sully and James and John Thomas Robberson, and their families; and his dog, Brody. His family is grateful for the support of Ryan's friends; his girlfriend, Krysta Gomez; and the wonderful staff in the Intensive Care Unit at Baptist Integris Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Louisiana, 1215 Prytania St, Ste 371, New Orleans, LA 70130; or the Animal Rescue Friends of Nichols Hills, c/o Town Hall, 6407 Avondale, Nichols Hills, OK 73116. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. at Saint Paul's Cathedral, 127 N.W. 7th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73102, a Reception at the church to follow.
