June Lumbert Furbush, formally of Weems, VA. and Sanford, Maine, passed away peacefully September 22, 2016 at the Dover Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Dover, NH.

She was born in Chicago, Ill. on August 11, 1929 and raised in Sanford, Maine. She was the daughter of the late Sarah Senior Lumbert Brook and Carl Lumbert. She graduated from Sanford High School in 1947. June married Charles Furbush from Berwick, Maine and moved to Elliot, Maine where they had five children. The family also lived in NY, PA, and Indonesia. June and Chuck also lived in Turkey for three years and finally settled in Weems, Va.

While living in Weems, VA. June and Chuck built up a ceramics business. She taught classes, took part in craft shows and was always painting something! She was a very talented artist and she took great pride in her work. She also loved to garden, where she grew hundreds of Day Lilly varieties and loved to share them with family and friends.

June is survived by her daughter, Cathy Sanford of Weems, VA., a son Kevin Furbush and his wife Susan of West Lafayette IN., a daughter Sherri Brooks and husband Stephen of Huntsville, AL, and a daughter April Godbout and husband Fred of Milton, NH, whom she lived with before going to Dover Healthcare, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, her brothers Craig Brook and Scott Brook and many nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her husband Chuck, son Dennis, and her brother John Lumbert and sister Sharon Brook Harvie. 

The family would like to thank the Dover Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare and also Constellation Hospice for the wonderful care they took of their mom. 

A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Sanford, Maine.
