Mary K. (Custer) Martinsen, age 84, of North Canton, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 2, 2009 after a long battle with health problems. Mary was born in Canton to the late William & Dorothy (Mary) Custer. She grew up in Conotton, OH and graduated from Conotton High School. Mary spent her entire adult life in the Canton area. She was a very active and faithful member of Faith United Methodist Church (including Faith Kitchen, United Methodist Women and different committees); she was a member of PEO, volunteered for many years at Aultman Hospital, was on the board of the Stark County Hungar Task Force and was involved with Community Harvest. Mary is survived by her daughter-in-law: Margaret Martinsen; daughter Mrs. Thomas (Pamela) Wig; son Alan Martinsen; five grandchildren Kristen Thaler, Caitlin & Robert Martinsen, Christopher & Jennifer Wig; brother H. Sam Custer; sister-in-law Norma Custer; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years: Rodney Martinsen; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy & Charles Copeland; brother William Custer; sister-in-law Martha Custer; and son Paul Martinsen. Special thanks to everyone for their prayers and help over the last few years. Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 6, 2009 in Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Stultz Costello officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
