Lorenzo was born September 5, 1923 in Houston, TX, the son of Jose and Abundia (Martinez) Reyes.
Lorenzo was a proprietor, owning different enterprises in the Rockford area; he always looked forward to his next business venture.
He married Neftali Cervantes in 1945 and to this union 13 children were born. Lorenzo was a member of the First Baptist Church in South Beloit. He was passionate about reading politics, history and herbal medications. Lorenzo's father was a jeweler and passed on his love of jewelry to his son.
Survivors include his wife, Neftali of Rockford; children, Neftali (Steve) Seagraves of Byron, Arturo Reyes of Woodstock, IL, Lorenzo Reyes Jr. of Belvidere, Juanita (Jim) Bushert of Wisconsin, Reuben (Melody) Reyes of Rockford, Edmundo (Ellen) Reyes of Kent, OH, Sandra (John) Stevens of Roscoe, IL, Adan (Gloria) Cervantes of Cedar Rapids, IA, Noe Reyes of Rockford, Isidora (Carl) Spotz of Everett, WA, Gerardo Reyes of Fullerton, CA, William (Melissa) Reyes of Cherry Valley, IL, Eduardo (Nannette) Reyes of Jenks, OK; five sisters; 33 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Lorenzo is predeceased by his parents and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 8, 2006, in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL with Rev. Loren Rice, pastor of East Park Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial in Highland Garden of Memories.
