John Franklin Hassell Sr., 82, passed away on Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, in Milton, Fla.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Guilford Memorial Park with Dr. C.M. Worthy officiating.

John was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Jamestown, to the late Edward E. and Bertha L. White Hassell. He served his country in the Army during World War II. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Mr. Hassell was preceded in death by his infant brother in 1901, brother Oneil Hassell 1903-1909, sisters, Ida Hassell 1905-2003, Mary Evalena Hassell Kirkman 1907-1978, Francis Hassell Davis 1909-1999, and brother, Edgar Foscue Hassell 1912-1977.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Armanda W. Evans Hassell; his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
