Herman attended the Philadelphia public school system. After completion, he joined the United States Army. He proudly served in the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1960.
After serving our country, Herman moved to Rochester, New York. There he gained employment with the Eastman Kodak Company. Through technical training, he became one of the company’s valuable General Supervisors. He retired after working there for 31 years.
While in Rochester, Herman joined Aenon Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend James L. Cherry, Sr. where he served faithfully. It was there he met and married his love, Isabelle.
Herman was a quiet and loving person. He had a genuine love for people, especially those with whom he could hold a debate. He also enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, photography and a variety of music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only sibling, Ms. Anna Mae Mathews.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife,
Isabelle Stepherson Hampton; two sons; four stepchildren; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four nieces; and many cousins, church family and sorrowing friends.
