CHILDRESS — Dennis Ray “Poppy” “Poppo” Willis, 69, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2016.

Services were at 10 a.m. Thursday in Childress Church of Christ with Dr. Craig Darter officiating and Trey Morgan and Don McFarland assisting. Burial followed in Childress Cemetery. Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home of Childress.

Dennis was born March 25, 1947, in Quanah to Arlo Willis and Tommie McDonald Willis. Dennis was married to the love of his life, Dianne, for 50 years. He owned and operated their family business, Crossroads Tire Services, for 46 years. He loved his family more than life itself and you couldn’t ask for a better husband, father and grandfather.

He loved fishing, hunting, skeet and trap shooting and taught many 4-H kids how to shoot, as well as his children and grandchildren. He taught all of his children how to work hard and take care of their families. He gave nicknames to all those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Darlene Harrison; and a brother, Thomas Lee Willis.

Survivors include his wife, Dianne Willis; two daughters, Tammy Proctor and husband Wes of San Angelo and Tanya Bonney and husband Benjamin of Childress; two sons, Dennis”Tiger” Willis and wife Joan and Danny Willis and wife LaDonna, all of Childress; his grandchildren, Brandon Proctor and wife Nathalie of Las Vegas, Kinsley Lester and husband Danny of San Angelo, Kailey Delavan and husband Mike of San Angelo, Seth Willis and wife Kaitlyn of Lubbock, Arlo, Trent, Sara and Mark Willis, all of Childress, Josey and Jessey Bonney, both of Childress, and Connor McClain and Olivia McClain, both of Childress; his great-grandchildren, Chloe and Madison Lester and Abigail Proctor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to Willis Family Scholarship 210 Fourth St. S.E., Childress, TX 79201.
