Joann (Watson) Tillotson, 74, of Townsend, passed away early Saturday morning, Dec. 9, 2006, at her home in Townsend.

She was born in Walsenberg, Colo., Jan. 12, 1932, to Joseph and Christine (Lowe) Watson. She attended school in Colorado and lived there until 1951 when they moved to Montana.

Joann married Arthur Tillotson on Sep. 23, 1952, in Helena. They had seven children, Betty, Ruth, Michael, Linn, Carol, Charles and Hannah.

Joann worked for the Helena City-County Health Department for 10 years as a health service outreach worker. Following her retirement from there, she moved to Townsend where she worked for the Broadwater Health Center for eight years. She became a senior companion and worked for RMDC in that position until cancer forced her into permanent retirement.

She was an active member of the Townsend Senior Citizens Organization and attended their fine dinner club and card game activities. Joann also enjoyed crafts, reading and painting.

Joann would like to be remembered as a laughing senior citizen and friend to all.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Robert and Joe Watson; sisters, Hannah Hadlowe, and Betty Tillotson. She is survived by her children, Betty Riley of Helena; Ruth Knowles of Townsend; Mike and Margaret Tillotson of Phoenix, Ariz., Carol Anderson of Townsend; Linn and Annette Tillotson of Georgia; Charles L. and Karen Tillotson of Townsend and Hannah Tillotson of Townsend; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Come join the family and friends in celebrating Joann's life at a memorial service 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Townsend. Memorials in her name are suggested to the St. John's Episcopal Church, 314 North Cedar Street Townsend, Montana 59644 or to the A-Plus Hospice 1300 Aspen, Suite 2, Helena, MT 59601. Retz Funeral Home of Helena assisted the family with their arrangements.
