RILEY, Dennis Roy Dennis was born December 9, 1941 and died peacefully in his sleep on September 12, 2016. He was born in Humboldt, Kansas, was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Gladys Wright Riley and his sister, Eleanor Russell.

Survived by brother-in-law Howard Russell, niece Susan Russell Ellis and husband Patrick Ellis, nephew David Russell and great nephew Riley Ellis.

His long career with Dole Pineapple led him to be awarded recognition as Top Institutional Salesman. And he had a second career in financial document printing, working with American Equity Press and Pandick Press. Dennis was a car and motorcycle enthusiast and had a love for sailboats and powerboats. He traveled the world extensively delivering yachts. He was a past member of the Corinthian sailing club. He loved cycling and participated in the Dallas Cycling Club. He also participated in the Sierra Club and had special memories of running river rapids with his friends there.

Dennis was a plein air- painter the art of painting outdoors-- and decorated his home with his own art. Sunday nights would often find Dennis at Keller's Drive-in with other car and motorcycle enthusiasts. He shared breakfast every morning at the Gold Rush Café on Skillman, where he had many friends. Dennis loved to tell the story of the recent surprise party his friends gave him at Gold Rush. He was a member of Skillman Church of Christ and enjoyed his close friendship with those in the Blessing Class. The love and assistance of his wonderful friends sustained him during his long battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, September 20 at Noon in the Family Life Center Rotunda of the Skillman Church of Christ.
