Rincon - Ms. Jo Leggett Newman died at St. Joseph’s hospital on September 20, 2016. Jo was surrounded by her family as she graciously surrendered her battle to join her Lord. Jo had been a resident of Lakeview Manor in Springfield and more recently lived at The Place at Pooler. She was born in Cayce, South Carolina to Crystal Lea and Alex Peterson, and was raised in Norway, SC by her grandparents, Dr. Joel and Myrtle Williams. These preceded her in death, along with her former husband, Hubert Leggett and her sister, Madelyn Neidlinger.
After marrying Hubert, Jo made her home in Savannah, GA, raising her children on the Isle of Hope, where she was an active member of IOH Baptist Church. She spent her final years in Rincon, GA, attending Rincon First Baptist. For twenty years Jo worked for Dearing A. Nash as a medical secretary. In later life she became a licensed insurance agent with Aflac, before retiring in 1998. Jo enjoyed the challenge of a daily cross word puzzle, but her greatest love was her family.

Burial: Graveside service 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 23 at Willow Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery in Norway, SC.
